Chief Darin M. Adams is the Chief of Police of the Cedar City Police Department. Chief Adams has 29 years of experience as a law enforcement officer. He has experience with nearly every aspect of law enforcement and served as a CIT Regional Coordinator for the State of Utah in the Iron County from 2009 through 2016. Chief Adams provided the first tracker for the newly formed Mental Health Court in Iron County to help establish the program in collaboration with the Iron County Attorney’s Office and Southwest Behavioral Health Center.
Chief Adams served as the Region 1 Vice President for the Utah Chiefs of Police Association and as the Association’s Treasurer. Chief Adams also served as the Chair for the Utah Mental Health Crisis Intervention Council, which was formed in 2021 as part of Senate Bill 47.
Chief Adams is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Utah and holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration/Management and a master’s degree in Public Administration. Chief Adams is passionate about creating and engaging in best practices for those individuals and families dealing with mental illness and crisis. He enjoys spending time with family and various recreational activities.
